Screen records audio and video on your Mac and uploads them to our servers so you can review and share recordings from the dashboard.

Audio transcription

Recorded audio is streamed to a third-party transcription service to produce live transcripts. By recording with Screen you are consenting to your audio being sent to that service for this purpose. The provider's data-handling policies apply to that audio while it is in transit and during transcription.

What we store

We store the stitched video, extracted frames, transcript text, and recording metadata in our database and object storage. Account and session data is stored in our database. Error reports go to Sentry.

Product analytics

We use PostHog to understand how Screen is used — which features people reach, where flows break down, and how often recordings complete. These are counts of actions, tied to your account and workspace.

We do not use session replay, and we do not send PostHog the contents of your recordings: no video, no frames, no transcript text, no attachments or their file names, and no note text. We also do not send your email address. Page addresses are recorded without their query strings.

Deleting your data

Deleting a recording removes its metadata immediately and its video and frames shortly after. Deleting your account from settings removes all of your recordings and account data.
